From setup to harvest β everything you need to know about your Sproushi device and mushroom capsules
Instructions
[π] 1. Use Immediately
Best within 2β3 days of arrival.*Β
[π§΄] 2. Sanitize
Clean workspace with alcohol.
Sterilize syringe tip with alcohol
[π] 3. Inject
Insert syringe into the rectangular patch.
Inject 2β5 ml liquid culture.
Patch reseals automatically.
[π±] 4. Colonize
Store at 20β24 Β°C (68β75 Β°F).
Wait until bag is fully white (~2β4 weeks).
[π] 5. Grow in Sproushi
Place fully colonized bag into your SproushiΒ and cut a cross with a sterile knife
*CanvasCapsules contain a sterilized substrate without active mycelium, so even tiny contaminants can take hold. By injecting your liquid culture right away, you give your mycelium a head start. Once it colonizes the bag, it will be strong enough to resist contamination.

FAQ
Do I need to cut the Capsule open once mushrooms start growing?
Yes βοΈ After colonization, when the substrate is fully white with mycelium, cut the bag open and then place the Capsule inside Sproushi.
π From that point forward, it behaves just like our pre-colonized Mushroom Capsules.
How soon do I need to use my CanvasCapsules?
For best results, inoculate within 2β3 days of arrival.
If you need to wait, keep them in the fridge (4β8 Β°C / 39β46 Β°F) for up to a week.
Longer storage increases the risk of contamination or drying out.
Can I order multiple Capsules and stagger their use?
Yes β just be sure to plan your inoculations. Since Capsules should be used within a few days (or a week max in the fridge), youβll want to inject each shortly after receiving them rather than storing long-term.
Can I use both liquid culture and spore syringes with Sproushi?
Yes β Both work.
Liquid culture (LC): living mushroom starter in liquid form β faster, more reliable colonization.
Spore syringe: dormant spores β slower start, but still supported by Sproushi.
How does the process change if I start from spores?
Spores: need time to germinate first, so colonization takes longer.
Liquid culture: colonization starts immediately.
In both cases, once the Capsule is fully colonized, you cut it open and move it into Sproushi to fruit.
